Unlike MS FrontPage, no extensions are required to install
on your server to access your Dreamweaver or
Flash site, or to modify files. Since every
version of Dreamweaver is a little different,
it would be good idea to consult your Dreamweaver
manual to study how you can work live on your
Dreameaver web site.
We do recommend that you work locally on your
computer and then either save the files to your
server, or use an FTP client, such as CuteFP
to upload your files to your web site.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO GO TO MICROSOFT TO DOWNLOAD
EXTENSIONS. EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS ALREADY AVAILABLE
TO INSTALL AT YOUR CLOSERANGE SERVER. |

| Frequent
Questions: |
| |
| Q:
Can I use Dreamweaver on my site without adding
any thing special? |
| A: |
|
Yes,
absolutely. Dreamweaver is one of the
suggested web design programs. In fact,
our designers use Dreamweaver and Homesite
for building the vast majority of web
sites that we build for clients. Even
the FREEDOM pages that we build for clients
are assisted by the use of Dreamweaver
and Homesite. Dreamweaver works equally
well on both IBM type and Apple computers.
The code is cleaner than code made with
FrontPage or Microsoft Word (for sure).

|
| Q:
Can I work "LIVE" on the site with
Dreamweaver. |
| A: |
|
Yes,
you can either work live, or work locally
and then publish the finished pages to
your web site. |
|
| |
| Q:
How do I open up a "live" FrontPage
session
on my web site? |
| A: |
|
Please
refer to your documentation for Dreamweaver
and follow the standard directions.
There is nothing unique about our servers
that would alter the standard directions
or documention you would already have
with Dreamweaver.
|
|
| Q: Do
I need to use Dreamweaver to upload files? |
| A: |
|
No,
you can either copy files using telenet
or FTP. There are number of excellent
FTP software packages that are available,
or you can even use your Internet Browser
to FTP files to your site.
FTP access is a simple matter of setting
up users with login and passwords, which
is explained in the user support for your
server. See your online server handbook
for details. |

| Q: Can
you recommend some books on Microsoft FrontPage?
|
| A: |
|
Yes,
we have already done that at our Working
Solutions site. We suggested the Lynda
Weinman Hands-On training books for
anyone getting started with Dreamweaver.
These books are even better than books
that are published by Macromedia.

| Flash
5 and Flash MX have a steep learning curve and
are not for the novice user. We suggest working
in Dreamweaver for a good year or so, before
even thinking about Flash. Flash has it's advantages
in terms of quick loading graphics but it also
has its share of issues and problems. Great
but not for everyone. |
