Frequent
Questions: |
| |
| Q:
Do
I need to know exactly what I want before starting?
|
| A: |
|
No
one ever does figure out the final architecure
of their web sites before they have had their
web site online for awhile. Even the very most
successful web sites have changed both their
design (and certainly their content ... which
many change regulary - see "Freedom")
over time. In fact, that's one reason why they
have become successful. They experiment and
try new approaches to discover what will work
for them.
Plan
for the development of your site in phases.
Get a first version of your web site online,
and then keep trying discover what works and
what doesn't work for your visitors. A web site
is never "finished." It should keep
changing to keep attracting people back to it.
That
doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to plan
your first site. In fact, we are limited to
one first draft for you. After that, you must
pay for revisions. So it's very good for you
to have a clear idea of what you are asking
us to to do.
Most often we will make suggestions, and if
you are comfortable with what we suggest, we
can draw up the first phase of your web site
without much effort on your part. In other words,
we try to when ever possible to work with you
to find out what your real needs are, and then
we make suggestions on how to translate those
needs to the web.
Plans are good, but don't expect to figure everything
out with the first version of yoru site. All
the best sites have gone through a metaphorpasis
to get to where they are. You shouldn't expect
to be any different. |

| Q:
Can
I start off with a smaller site? |
| A: |
|
Sure,
you can start off with a simple web presence,
if that's all you are ready for, and then build
from there. Don't be timid to try to go online.
Everybody needs to get their feet wet before
figuring out what works best for them. |

| Q: |
|
I want a successful presence online, but is
that something that can be accomplished with
my limited resources (time, money and personnel)? |
| A |
|
We
have a the product/service that can make that
happen for you. It's called Freedom, and
it's a set of tools that run your web web
server so that it can build pages dynamically
from a database.
What is most remarkable about Freedom is how
simple it is to use. Since we administer
the Freedom server for you, all you have to
do is manage the content.
And it's so easy to manage content using Fredom
that you can even hire a non-computer person
who is part time to enter content for you.
Freedom even comes with E-Commerce and can
help you turn your web site into an "income
stream" instead of just another expense
without any of the complexity or the hastle
of the other types of web servers.
